The mechanical quality is good. The battery keeps it's charge. Even if not used it is good for at least a month. It will play 2.5 hour from a battery charge.
And now the bad news: This was bought for our German-speaking grand kids. The PDVD770 does NOT play their DVDs (bought from Amazon.de and shipped from Germany).
Does anybody know how to set "Country Code 0" -- meaning the PDVD770 will then be region free. ??

I bought this DVD player about 2 years ago from Best Buy. It works well and is easily portable. The sound quality is what you would expect from the two tiny speakers, but it is great with headphones. When I first bought it, the player's battery lasted around 2 1/2 hours with the volume and brightness set to comfortable levels, but now I am lucky if it lasts 1 1/2 hours when fully charged and the volume and brightness set low. Obviously that is not long enough to watch most movies in their entirety. In searching for a replacement battery, I decided to leave this comment for the benefit of potential buyers who might be curious about the longterm quality of this product. No luck with the battery search thus far.

Good product overall for price. I wish it could be a little faster loading up but otherwise great.
